The CDC is a federal agency with primary responsibility for supporting state- and community-based programs to prevent oral disease, for promoting oral health nationwide, and for fostering applied research to enhance oral disease prevention in community settings. It publishes the Morbidity Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR), public health statistics, and summaries of the data it collects on oral health.
