Can I use Google to access full-text articles online?

Google has indexed many full-text articles, and you may be able to reach them in this way. However, we don't recommend using Google in this way. Google doesn't index all the websites we use to access online journals, so you won't always get to the article you need in this way. Google has no way of knowing to which journals the library subscribes and so may send you to websites where we don't have access. The library's A-Z list of e-journals [link] and online catalog [link] are much better places to look for online content. There is no way for you to log in to the library's website when you use Google to reach full-text articles, so if you are off-campus, you may be locked out when you try to access the full text. Google does not assess the quality of the websites it indexes. If you are searching for research information, the library provides various databases that link to quality, peer-reviewed content. These databases include PubMed, Scopus, and CINAHL. Call the Reference Desk at (901) 448-5404 (toll-free 877-747-0004) for assistance in selecting and searching the database appropriate to your field of research.
