I went to access an e-journal I know we have, but I was asked for a username and password. Why was that?

First, you should always access our e-journals via the library website, which will allow you to log in if you are off campus and links you to the correct provider of that e-journal. Some journals are accessible via several different websites, but the library may have access to the journal at only one of the websites. We may change the website that we use for access from time to time.

Second, you should also check on the date range given next to the journal link in the A-Z e-journal list or library catalog. The library may have access to only a subset of the issues available at the journal website.

Third, if the journal you selected is listed as having "on campus access only," you will not be able to access the title from off-campus.

Finally, a few journals require a username and password. We provide this information when you click on the journal link in the A-Z e-journal list or library catalog. If you have checked everything listed above and are asked for a username and password without being provided this information, please contact the library and let us know about the problem.

Occasionally, publishers switch off our access without warning, and once we are aware of the problem we can work with the publisher to get it resolved.
