When printing in the library, you will be prompted to enter your first and last name and to give a name for the document you want to print. Once you have completed work at the computer, you can go to any one of the three release stations to pay for your printouts.
Release stations are located on the 2nd floor of the library in the research alcove and multimedia lab, and on the 3rd floor in the Electronic Classroom. Press any key to “wake” the release station and then type in your name exactly as you did when sending the document to print. Insert your Copicard to see your balance. Select the name of the document you want to print by tapping on the touch screen and clicking on Print. The document will print at the nearest printer, and the appropriate amount will be deducted from your Copicard. If you decide not to print a document, just leave it in the system and it will be deleted automatically after 24 hours.
Step-by-step instructions are posted on each computer workstation, and help is available from the library staff.
The charge for printing a document is the same as the charge for self-service photocopying in the library (i.e., 10¢ per sheet).
UTHSC students get unlimited free printing once a month and will be notified in advance through the student E-mail list on campus.
Patrons wishing to print documents from the library’s public computers must have a Copicard to do so. Copicards are electronic cards purchased in specific denominations and are used like a debit card. Copicards eliminate the need for coins and bills when photocopying or printing. The charge for printing a document is the same as the charge for self-service photocopying in the library (i.e., 10¢ per sheet).
The Copicard dispenser accepts $1, $5, $10, and $20 bills. Each new Copicard costs $1 but can be reused by adding credit up to a maximum of $25. Copicards purchased through the library's Business Office (room 340) can be purchased in $10 increments up to $100 and charged to UT account numbers. No refunds are given for unused, lost, or damaged Copicards.
If you have any questions about using the pay-for-print system, stop by the Reference or Circulation desks in the library. For questions about Copicards, visit the Circulation Desk or call (901) 448-5634.
